Looking for fun and effective Halloween ideas to complete a cannabis-friendly holiday experience? If so, then you’ve come to the right place! This homemade Halloween concoction is the perfect addition to any spooky activity, and it works from two angles, as a cool decoration, and a delicious drink that will elevate the mind, and help to keep everyone hydrated.

Where to buy blood bags

Like many of the best homemade Halloween ideas, you're going to need to do some shopping before getting started, even if you do already have all of the ingredients on hand, because it’s nearly impossible to make your own blood bags, so you’ll have to order enough to cover your guests. You can find them online, by searching novelty drink blood bags, and they typically cost around $5.00 for 12, which isn’t too bad for such a cool effect.

Blood bag Halloween drinks recipe

Using drinks that are red to celebrate the holiday isn’t exactly one of the most original Halloween ideas, but once you wrap it all in a creepy package that makes it look truly like blood, and infuse it with a hint of cannabis you’ll be sure to impress your guests. These raspberry martinis are the ultimate filler because they boast a deep thick hue that resembles blood more than strawberry-based blends.

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Servings: 1 drink (may fill more than 1 blood bag)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of ice
  • ¼ cup vodka
  • 2 tablespoons cranberry juice
  • 1 ½ tablespoons raspberry syrup
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tablespoon cannabis tincture
  • Fresh raspberries (for garnish)

Tools

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Funnel
  • Refillable blood bags
  • Serving platter

  1. Make sure you have enough of the ingredients to make this recipe multiplied by the number of people you’d like to serve these Halloween drinks.

  2. Add all of the ingredients along with some ice to a cocktail shaker to make 1 drink.

  3. Shake the mix rigorously for 15-20 seconds.

  4. Get the first blood bag ready, by inserting the funnel into the opening at the top, and then pour as much of the freshly made cocktail as you can into the pouch. In most cases, it should all fit with a small amount of room to spare.

  5. Seal the pouch and place it on a serving platter. Repeat steps 1 through 4 until all of the blood bags are full of delicious liquid.

  6. Fan the bags out on a plate like a deck of cards, then use raspberries to garnish the plate with a delightful treat that will complement the natural flavours of the drinks.

Proper storage is important

Since there’s so much real fruit juice in this drink, it’s important to keep the filled bags in the fridge until you’re ready to serve or pack them to bring with you to a party. If lengthy transport is required, we highly recommend using a cooler filled to the brim with ice as it’ll work well enough to protect the juices for long enough to get them where you need them to be. You should never freeze these blood bags, simply because most novelty items aren’t designed to hold up to low temperature storage.
